An astrology report for today is built from the Moon's position against your Moon sign, plus the day's tithi and nakshatra. It needs no purchase: a panchang and your rashi are enough. A marriage, career or complete report is a different product. It is cast from your exact birth date, time and place, and reads houses and dasha periods that stay valid for years.

One Word, Several Different Products

"Astrology report" covers at least four things that have little in common. A daily forecast for a sign. A snapshot of where your own chart stands this year. A focused reading on one subject, usually marriage or career. And the full written analysis of a birth chart.

They differ in what they are built from. The first uses only the sky on a given day and a Moon sign shared by millions. The other three use your birth time and place, which set your ascendant and your dasha sequence. That is the line to keep in mind while reading the rest of this page: a report is either about the day or about you, and the two answer different questions.

Report Types Compared

The first two rows are free almost everywhere, including our own rashifal page. The last four depend on a birth time, and their quality depends on who or what did the interpreting.

An Astrology Report for Today

A report for today rests on the fastest thing in the chart, the Moon. It crosses a sign in about two and a quarter days and a nakshatra in roughly one. So today's report asks: where is the Moon, counted from your own Moon sign?

A sound daily report gives you four lines:

• The Moon's house from your rashi. The 8th is the low point, called Chandrashtama. The 12th and 4th are quieter. The 3rd, 6th, 10th and 11th are traditionally the active ones.
• Tara Bala. Count from your birth nakshatra to today's nakshatra and take the remainder in a cycle of nine. This is what separates you from the others who share your rashi.
• Tithi and weekday. The lunar day and the planet ruling the weekday.
• The hours to avoid. Rahu Kaal, and the choghadiya blocks if you follow them.

You can assemble this yourself in five minutes. The method, with a Tara Bala table and a worked example, is in the step-by-step reading for today. A paid daily report that does not ask for your birth nakshatra is the same text everyone else with your sign received.

Use it for small things, such as when to send the difficult email. A day's Moon should not decide a resignation, a surgery date or an investment.

A "Current" Astrology Report

People who search for a current astrology report usually mean: what is happening in my chart right now? That is a fair question, and it has a specific answer made of three parts.

1. The running dasha. Which mahadasha you are in, which antardasha inside it, and the date each ends. A Saturn mahadasha lasts 19 years, but the antardasha inside it changes every one to three years, and that is the level where life feels different.
2. The slow transits. Saturn spends about two and a half years in a sign, Jupiter about one year, Rahu and Ketu about eighteen months. Their houses from your Moon and ascendant set the background. Sade Sati is one case of this: Saturn in the 12th, 1st and 2nd from your Moon.
3. The annual chart. Varshaphal is cast for the moment the Sun returns to its birth position each year. Not every astrologer uses it.

A current report is short and goes stale when the antardasha changes. If a "current" report does not name your dasha and its end date, it is a transit column with your name printed on it. The dasha system is explained in how mahadasha and antardasha work.

A Report for July, or Any Month

Monthly reports are organised by calendar month, while the astrology underneath is not. In the sidereal zodiac used in Jyotish, the Sun changes sign around the middle of each calendar month. In July it moves from Mithuna (Gemini) to Karka (Cancer) around the 16th; that crossing is Karka Sankranti. So an astrology report for July is two half-reports: Sun in Mithuna for the first fortnight, Sun in Karka for the second.

A useful monthly report tells you:

• the house the Sun occupies from your rashi or ascendant in each half of the month;
• where the month's new Moon and full Moon fall for you;
• whether Mercury, Venus or Mars changes sign or turns retrograde during the month, with the date;
• your two or three Chandrashtama days.

Western monthly columns use the tropical zodiac, where the Sun changes sign around the 21st to 23rd. That is why two reports for the same July can disagree without either being careless. Astrology Report for Marriage

A marriage report is a reading of one person's chart on one subject. It is not the same as kundli matching, which compares two charts. If a specific match is on the table, you need Kundli Milan. If the question is when, what kind of partner, or why the delay, you need a marriage report.

It should cover at least these:

What it gives is windows, usually spans of a year or more, and a description of tendencies. It cannot name a wedding date, promise that a marriage will happen, or tell you whether a particular person will say yes. A "delay" with no reasoning attached is a guess. Astrology Report for Career

A career report reads the houses of work and income together. The 10th house is the profession and public standing. The 6th is service and daily work, so it carries weight for salaried jobs. The 2nd and 11th are earnings and gains. The 7th matters for business and partnerships.

A career report worth reading does three things:

1. Names the direction, with reasons. It names the planets that influence the 10th house and its lord, and the kinds of work they point to. A list of twenty professions is not a finding.
2. Checks the Dashamsha (D-10). This is the divisional chart for career. A 10th lord that looks strong in the birth chart and weak in the D-10 changes the reading.
3. Gives a timeline. It says which dasha periods favour a change, which favour staying put, and when the current one ends.

It cannot predict an exam result, a selection list or a salary figure. Treat it as one input beside your savings and skills, not as the reason to resign. The houses and combinations involved are covered in the career astrology guide.

The Complete Astrology Report

The complete report is the whole chart in writing: every house, the divisional charts, the yogas the chart forms, the dasha timeline with dates, transit forecasts, and remedies. Marriage and career appear as sections inside it. If you have more than one question, this is the sensible choice, because separate subject reports would repeat the same chart and dasha table.

How to Check Your Astrology Online Free

You can get the factual layer of your chart free, and it is worth doing before paying for anything.

1. Confirm your birth time from a certificate, hospital record or family patrika. Memory is the usual source of error.
2. Cast the chart on any established kundli site or free software. Enter the town you were born in, not where you live.
3. Check the settings. Ayanamsa should be Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) unless you have a reason to use another. This one setting moves every planet by a small amount.
4. Write down five facts: ascendant, Moon sign, birth nakshatra and pada, current mahadasha, current antardasha with end dates.
5. Cast it on a second site and compare those five facts. If they match, your data is sound. If the ascendant differs, the time zone or place was read differently.

Astrology Report Generators

An astrology report generator is a program that takes birth details, calculates the chart, and fills a document with pre-written paragraphs matched to each placement. Moon in the 4th house pulls one paragraph, Saturn in the 7th pulls another.

The calculation side is usually reliable. Planet positions come from standard ephemerides, and two good generators will agree to within a fraction of a degree if the ayanamsa matches. The interpretation side has a built-in limit: each paragraph is written for one placement in isolation, so the report can praise your career prospects on page 12 and warn of obstruction on page 40 without noticing.

Generators are good for the tables: positions, divisional charts, dasha dates. Read their interpretive text as a list of possibilities that still needs weighing. AI chat tools can invent positions unless they are connected to a real calculator, so check the five facts above against whatever they tell you.

Astrology Report Software

If you want to produce reports yourself, as a student or a practising astrologer, software falls into three groups.

• Desktop programs for calculation. Jagannatha Hora is a free Windows program widely used by students for its depth of divisional charts and dasha systems. It calculates; it does not write a narrative report.
• Commercial report software. Programs such as Parashara's Light and several Indian packages print long reports in Hindi and English with interpretive text. Practitioners use them for the tables and write their own conclusions.
• Websites and mobile apps. Convenient for a quick chart and a free PDF. Check the ayanamsa and whether the app uses the true or mean lunar node, since apps differ.

These names are examples, not endorsements, and features change between versions. Whatever you choose, test it once against a chart you already know well.

An Astrology Report Template

Whether you are writing a report or checking one you received, this is the order a clear report follows:

1. Birth data as used: date, time, place, time zone, ayanamsa.
2. Basic details: ascendant, Moon sign, nakshatra and pada.
3. Charts: birth chart, Moon chart, Navamsa.
4. Planet table: sign, degree, nakshatra, house.
5. Dasha table: mahadashas and antardashas with dates.
6. The question: what the person asked, in one line.
7. Findings: each one with the placement it is based on.
8. Timing: which periods matter for the question.
9. Remedies, if any: few, specific, with what each is for and what it will not do.
10. Limits: uncertain birth time, anything not examined.

Items 1 to 5 are data and any software prints them. Items 6 to 10 are the report.

How to Get an Astrology Report

Start from the question, then pick the format.

• "How is today or this month?" A free rashifal and a panchang. No purchase needed.
• One specific question, such as a job change this year: a single-question reading like Ask One Question fits better than a long report.
• A match under consideration: matching of both charts, not a solo marriage report.
• Several questions, or a long-term reference: the complete report.

For a written report, keep ready your date, exact time and place of birth, and say so if the time is approximate. Five Checks for Any Report

1. Does it print your birth data and ayanamsa? If not, you cannot verify anything in it.
2. Does the ascendant match your own free chart? A mismatch means a different time, place or time zone was used.
3. Does each finding name its basis? "Saturn aspects the 7th lord" can be checked. "The stars indicate delay" cannot.
4. Do the sections agree with each other? Contradictions between pages are the mark of text assembled placement by placement.
5. Are remedies explained or only sold? A report that ends in a shopping list of expensive items deserves a second opinion.

What No Report Can Do

An astrology report describes tendencies and periods in a traditional system. It does not make decisions, and it does not guarantee a marriage, a job, a result or a recovery. Dates in it are windows, not appointments.

It is not a medical, legal or financial document. A health indication in a chart is a reason to see a doctor if you have symptoms, never a reason to wait. Money decisions belong with a qualified adviser. If a daily report is leaving you anxious, stop reading it for a while.

And a report is only as good as the birth time under it. If your time is uncertain, say so.
