Mahakal 3x3 Yantra (महाकाल 3x3 यंत्र) is a sacred 3x3 inch copper Yantra of Bhagwan Mahakal, Shiva as the lord of time itself, worshipped at Ujjain as one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and invoked wherever time has turned against a person. Kaal means both time and death, and Mahakal is the one who stands beyond both, which is why his Yantra is the plate traditionally installed against fear, chronic obstruction and untimely misfortune. The 3x3 inch copper sheet carries his trishul and lingam mandala with the Mahamrityunjaya inscription. How to install and use

Bathe before sunrise and perform abhishek of the Yantra with raw milk, then with Gangajal, and dry it on a white cloth.

Place a white cloth in the north or north-east of the puja room and set the Yantra upright. Keep it in the puja space rather than a bedroom.

Light a ghee lamp, apply a bhasma or chandan tilak, and offer three bilva patra with the smooth side facing down, as tradition prescribes.

Offer white flowers such as dhatura or aak, along with a little raw milk and black sesame.

Chant the Mahamrityunjaya mantra 108 times on a rudraksha mala, ideally at sunrise or during the Pradosh hour.

Continue for forty days, then maintain Monday and Pradosh worship, donate black sesame or a blanket on Saturday, and wipe the plate with a dry cloth.
